Robert Adams was planning a Disneyland trip with his daughter. It would have been her first trip. But he was one of the 14 victims killed in the mass shooting on Wednesday in San Bernardino.
A devoted father, Adams was a family man — he married his high school sweetheart, Summer, and he cherished every moment he had with 20-month-old Savannah.
His family held a vigil on Sunday in Yucaipa to honor him.
"We ask that you remember those taken from us not for how they died, but for how they lived," C.L. Lopez, a spokeswoman for San Bernardino County, said in a statement.
Adams loved his job as an environmental health specialist with the county, and he considered his colleagues family, Lopez said.
Adams was also an avid online gamer. Many of his gamer friends contributed and shared memories on the GoFundMe page that raised over $57,000 as of Tuesday afternoon.
"He was truly one of the best friends I have ever had. In life you get to know that one person that you just say everything to," said Shawn Brady, who said he played a science fiction role-playing game EVE Online with Adams.
Wesley Poucher, another gamer friend, referred to Adams as the "'Photon Torpedo' in the world of EVE."

"This is a sad day for us," Poucher said. "But you will not be forgotten among the members of 'Starfleet' and 'Ultimatum.'"
"We give and we let [Summer] and Savannah know that as difficult as it will be, they will never walk alone," the page stated.
