An Anaheim man was arrested Friday on suspicion of smashing the windshield of a woman's vehicle in what police say was road rage.

The incident -- which the victim recorded on video that went viral when it was posted on social media -- happened about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday at State College Boulevard and Lincoln Avenue, according to Anaheim police Sgt. Jeff Mundy.

Joshua Robert Dalton, 28, was arrested around 1:30 p.m. near his Anaheim residence, Mundy said. He was booked into Anaheim's jail on suspicion of felony vandalism and was being held on $20,000 bail.

The victim, a 34-year-old Anaheim woman, apparently cut off Dalton in traffic, provoking him to race to get his Jeep Liberty in front of her car and force her to stop, Mundy said.

Dalton allegedly got out of his vehicle, jumped on the hood of her car and then used his fist to shatter her windshield, Mundy said.

Dalton then got back into the Jeep and drove away, Mundy said.

News reports about the incident spurred multiple tips to police, leading investigators to Dalton, Mundy said.

A 49-year-old male friend and the woman's two children, 12 and 13, were in the car with the driver, Mundy said. The damage to the car was estimated to be about $1,200, Mundy said.
