Woman in 50s found dead at scene of San Marino house fire

A woman in her 50s was found dead Monday morning at the scene of a house fire in San Marino.

The fire was reported just before 10 a.m. in the 2600 block of Lorain Road in the San Gabriel Valley community near Pasadena. A person identified only as a woman in her 50s was found in the home.

The woman's husband called 911, police said.

"He'd taken his sons to baseball practice this morning, and when he returned to the location, from dropping them off at practice, he noticed the residence was on fire," said Lt. Steve DeJong.

The lieutenant said the fire happened on the west side of the home in a kitchen or workout area.

Details about the person's identity and how the fire started were not immediately available.
