SB City Councilwoman Recalled, But Could Wind Up Mayor

San Bernardino voters chose to oust a City Councilwoman from office - and also to make her mayor.

Citizens of San Bernardino's 7th Ward voted Tuesday night to recall and replace Wendy J. McCammack. But the same councilwoman led the field of 10 mayoral candidates, taking nearly a quarter of the citywide vote.

The mayoral contest will be decided in a runoff in February.

About 57 percent of voters in McCammack's ward chose to recall her - 1,257 votes, according to the San Bernardino County Elections Office of the Registrar of Voters.

She was one of three San Bernardino officials targeted for recall on Tuesday's ballot.

City Councilman John Valdivia successfully kept his seat while City Attorney James F. Penman was also voted out.
