A bank robber dressed in body armor and carrying an assault rifle shot a police officer and dropped a lot of cash coming out of the bank. Beverly White has details.
Police are searching for a bank robber Wednesday who shot an officer outside California Bank and Trust in Chino, prompting street closures and school lock downs.

The officer was on routine patrol when he encountered a man armed with an assault rifle at about 11 a.m. outside the bank, according to police. The officer was hospitalized, but details regarding his condition were not available.
Authorities are looking for a newer model charcoal grey Nissan Altima with Arizona plates, tinted windows and chrome rims in connection with the case.
A gunman in body armor fired several shots at police, according to investigators. A woman who was in her house near the bank told NBC4 that she heard about six gunshots.
Bills were scattered on the ground outside the bank at 5455 Riverside Drive. Nearby streets are closed as authorities search for the gunman.
The gunman was described as white between 35 and 40 years old, about 6 feet tall and 200 to 250 pounds. He was wearing a black stocking cap, dark blue collar shirt, navy bullet-proof vest, light colored jeans and sneakers.

Chino High School, Walnut Elementary School and Ana Borba Elementary School were on lockdown during the investigation. Oxford Prep Academy, a private school, also was on lockdown.
The robber left with an undisclosed amount of money, some of which was strewn across the bank parking lot.
