Motorcycle Driver Pulls Out Phone During High-Speed Pursuit

Newschopper4 Bravo as the motorcycle driver, at times, pulled out a cell phone and was riding with no hands on the freeway. Lolita Lopez reports for Today in LA on Sunday, August 4, 2019.

Police were pursuing a motorcycle in the Huntington Beach area Saturday.

Newschopper4 Bravo was over the chase around 9:40 p.m. as the motorcycle was traveling on the 405 Freeway northbound. The motorcycle driver, at times, pulled out a cell phone and was riding with no hands on the freeway.

The motorcycle hit speeds of 120 mph, zooming through traffic.

The driver decided to take the 605 Freeway northbound from the 405 Freeway, before taking the 105 Freeway westbound. The driver continued westbound and passed the 105 Freeway and 710 Freeway around 9:50 p.m.

Shortly after, Newschopper4 Bravo had to pull off the pursuit due to technical difficulties.

It was not immediately clear if the driver was apprehended, as the motorcycle made its way towards Los Angeles International Airport.

Later, City News Service reported that the California Highway Patrol lost visibility of the individual, and the whereabouts of the motorcyclist were unknown.
