Two in custody after high-speed pursuit of a Mustang in LA County

A police pursuit ended with the arrest of two people, accused of shoplifting and assaulting an officer in Ventura County, according to authorities. As seen on air on Oct. 4, 2024.

Police were chasing the driver of a yellow Ford Mustang in a multi-county pursuit on Friday.

Authorities were called to a theft-in-progress at a Target in Camarillo. Ventura County Sheriff's Organized Retail Theft Task Force spotted the suspected thieves in a yellow vehicle.

Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver did not yield.

The driver rear-ended a deputy patrol vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Police airship followed the vehicle as it made its way through the San Fernando Valley, West Los Angeles and ended in Gardena.

The back wheels of the pursuit vehicle were damaged and the driver pulled over on the 91 Freeway near Vermont.

A driver and a passenger got out of the vehicle and were promptly detained by police officers.
