Driver of stolen Kia leads police on chase in LA County

The woman driver fled inside an apartment complex in Watts where police made an arrest.

A driver behind the wheel of a stolen Kia Soul was speeding down the freeway, surface streets and a parking lot, sometimes going in opposite lanes, as a police helicopter tracked the white vehicle. She eventually bailed from the car and tried to flag down drivers along the side of the road.

Los Angeles Police were in pursuit of a woman driver of a stolen white Kia Soul in Los Angeles County Friday afternoon.

The pursuit began with ground patrols just after 4:00 p.m. in the South Bay area.

LAPD initiated the chase and decided to stop the ground pursuit, continuing to monitor the driver with their airship.

The driver had several close calls with vehicles and pedestrians while traveling at high speeds.

The woman got out of the stolen car and abandoned it in South Los Angeles. The woman then tried to hitchhike a ride as she was seen walking down the street.

An arrest was made at an apartment complex in Watts, where the woman attempted to evade authorities.
