Three people suspected of breaking into cars were arrested after leading police on a chase, then crashing in Pomona.
It all started around 2 p.m. at Montclair Plaza mall in Montclair. That’s where police responded to reports of three suspects breaking into cars. The suspects took off westbound on the 10 Freeway, with police in pursuit.
The chase came to an end when the suspects crashed into a pole and a truck at the Towne Avenue off ramp.
One of them took off running.
Police searched house-to-house in a neighborhood about a mile away from the crash, and he was later taken into custody.
Truck driver Jesse Contreras was stopped at the off-ramp when the suspects crashed into his truck. He said he’s lucky to be OK.
“I stopped at the light. All of a sudden, I heard the screeching, so I was bracing for impact because I thought someone was coming too fast. They hit the pole next to me and the back of the car hit the the truck,” he said.

“I was going to make a delivery and I wished that I had just kept going and not gotten off the freeway.”
