A Studio City woman is hoping her offer of a $5,000 reward will help lead to the return of her beloved dog, Jack, after thieves took him from her secured apartment during a break-in on Monday.
Karen Chamberlain is offering the reward to anyone who returns her pet teacup Maltese.
"I start thinking about how I should’ve protected him or something," Chamberlain said as she stapled "Missing Dog" fliers to a tree on Saturday.
Chamberlain came home to her Studio City apartment building -- one with surveillance cameras -- to find her door lock broken and door frame bent.
"I knew from the way the door was, I had been broken into," Chamberlain said.
Though the building is outfitted with cameras, the footage has not turned up any leads.
Thieves rummaged through her dresser drawers, combed through her clothes and stole her laptop and safety lock box that contained her family’s birth certificates, social security cards and life insurance documents.

But what Chamberlain is most devastated about losing is Jack, a pet she calls her child.
She’s hoping her plea to the public via the Internet will help reunite the two. She even started a Facebook page to spread the word about Jack.
"There's a woman in Maryland who said, 'I'm on Craigslist looking for you,'" she said.
All Chamberlain wants is to have Jack back home. Her reward is being offered simply for Jack's safe return, no questions asked.
"I just need him," she said.
