A 19-year-old man wanted in connection with several rapes in South Los Angeles laundry rooms in December and January has been arrested, police said Thursday.
Darius Michael Williams of Los Angeles was arrested Wednesday in connection with the rape of a woman in a La Cienega-Jefferson area apartment building laundry room in December 2014, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The attack left the woman in a coma for several weeks and hospitalized for several months, LAPD Officer Matthew Ludwig said.
Williams is suspected of raping a second woman as she was leaving her apartment building laundry room in the same area on Jan. 28, police said.
After the second attack, authorities sent a community alert and released a composite sketch of the suspect, leading to Williams' arrest.
Williams faces charges of attempted murder and sexual assault and is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center on $1 million bail, according to the LAPD.
