Carona's Kimberly Phillips wanted to try something different.
Playboy's Miss September 2009 -- a former part-time restaurant employee -- is featured in the current issue.
"One day I said to Natalie, my best bud since the fifth grade, 'I want to try something different. I want to be something different,'" said Phillips in a news release. "Never in a million years did I believe I'd be a Playmate, that this would turn out to be my fresh start."
The 22-year-old said she had her friend take some photos, which were sent to Playboy. She said a Playboy rep called a couple days later.
Phillips is a Corona High School graduate.
