Thieves use truck to break into Sunland liquor store

Sunland liquor store experiences over $20k in damages after two thieves slam a truck into the shop, Thursday morning. Camilla Rambaldi reports for the NBC4 News at 4 p.m. on Sept. 26, 2024. 

Video footage showed the moment thieves used a truck to ram into the front of a liquor store in Sunland early Thursday. 

The break-in happened at the SDV Liquor Store on the 8300 block of Foothill Boulevard at around 3:45 a.m.

The masked thieves stole approximately $18,000 worth of liquor, according to police.

Two people were seen running into the store to steal items after a black pickup truck crashed through the entrance of the business.

It was unknown if the truck was stolen. 

A separate burglary occurred in Sun Valley around the same time the SDV Liquor Store was broken into, authorities were unable to confirm if the two were related.

Authorities will begin dispatching a Sunland and Tujunga business corridor burglary task force to monitor the in the late evening and early morning hours in hopes it will deter thieves.
