Three Temescal Canyon High School students were arrested for allegedly making criminal threats to other students after someone reported overhearing comments about a possible school shooting on campus, police said Tuesday.
The threat was reported Saturday afternoon when a student reported a conversation overheard between two other students referencing a possible shooting at the Lake Elsinore cmapus.
Lake Elsinore Police Department responded to the school, and three students - who were not identified because they are juveniles - were arrested for making criminal threats.
All three were booked at Juvenile Hall. The exact nature of the threats is unclear.
The school remained open Monday as police investigated the allegations, which made their way to social media, despite rattled parents and students. Campus and school district officials said they were on a heightened security level while police investigated the threats.
Lake Elsinore police said they would have an increased presence on campus while they continue to investigate the threats.
