Time Warner Cable Customers Get Super Bowl Blackout

TWC customers reached out to NBC4 as the Super Bowl suddenly stopped showing up on their screens, the outage lasting for more than an hour

Eager Super Bowl fans were outraged as the big game went black for more than an hour for Time Warner Cable customers on Sunday.

Super Bowl DUI Patrols Out in Force

The cable company announced via Twitter about 4:45 p.m. it was having an issue with transmitting the feed from Fox. The outage affected Southern California stations KTTV (Fox), KCAL and KTLA analog and standard-definition feeds.

The feed returned just after 6 p.m., TWC officials said on Twitter.

Frustrated football viewers reached out to NBC4 with angry complaints of not being able to view the game.

"Time Warner cable is showing a black screen on channel 11. No more Super Bowl for TWC subscribers!" NBC4 viewer Michael Billinghurst said via Facebook.

One customer said despite TWC's statement the HD channels were working, she was not able to see the game on her HD channel.

"The HD channel isn't even working," NBC4 viewer Susie Hirscher-Linde said via Facebook. "Seriously TWC - the game of the year and we're missing it."

The cable company apologized for the inconvenience.
