A woman was seen clinging to the hood of a car after her dog was stolen in downtown Los Angeles.

The car was seen driving down the street after the woman's French bulldog was taken from her.

The woman had been having lunch at around 3:45 p.m. in front of Whole Foods near W. 8th Street and S. Grand Avenue when she said she tried to stop four thieves from getting away with her dog.

In a news release on Monday, the Los Angeles Police Department said two people had stolen the dog.

A woman picked up the dog and ran. She got into a white sedan where another person was waiting and they drove off, LAPD said.

The woman tried to stop them by jumping onto the hood of the car. She later fell off and the thieves got away with her dog, LAPD said.

"I just wanna say, if you need help or something, you can just ask for it. You don't have to go steal my dog, that's my baby I can't give that to you," said Ali Zacharias, the dog's owner.
