The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed Thursday that the former wife of a Woodland Hills physician who was murdered in an ambush-style attack outside his office has been arrested. She is among five people who have been arrested in connection with this case.

Numerous law enforcement officers could be seen at a home inside a gated community in Calabasas Thursday, which property records show is tied to the former wife of Dr. Hamid Mirshojae, the physician who was murdered in an ambush-style attack outside his office in Woodland Hills in August.

A long line of unmarked cars and SUVs were admitted into the complex around noon, and an aerial view from NewsChopper4 showed officers in raid jackets that said, “police,” around and inside the home on Newcastle Lane.

The search took place just before prosecutors filed murder charges against a man and a woman arrested earlier this week, and a third person, alleging the 3 carried out the killing of Dr. Mirshojae for financial gain.

Evan Hardman, 41, was arrested in Houston, Texas and was being held on an unrelated warrant. The criminal complaint filed against him in the murder case accuses him of lying in wait and personally using a gun.

Ashley Rose Sweeting, 40, was arrested in the San Fernando Valley and was being held in LA County jail with no bail, according to records. The complaint filed against her accuses her of being an accessory after the fact.

A third person charged was identified in court records as Sarallah Jawed, a 26-year-old male from Canoga Park, and was accused of murder for financial gain, and assault with a weapon other than a firearm. He was taken into custody on December 11.

Also arrested and facing murder charges is Shawn Randolph, a 46-year-old male from Valley Village.

The victim's ex-wife, Ahang Mirshojae, 53, was also taken into custody on December 12th, 2024 and booked for murder.

The LAPD had no comment, saying that the investigation in the doctor’s killing was ongoing and complex.

Dr. Hamid Mirshojae was shot to death in August as he left his urgent care clinic on Topanga Canyon Boulevard in the San Fernando Valley.

Detectives said at the time that they believed he was specifically targeted in the attack.

LAPD detectives and other officials declined to share information Wednesday about what led them to Hardman and Sweeting, explaining that the investigation 'had a lot of moving pieces,' and they hoped to provide much more detail in the coming days.
