A father who confronted a group of three individuals suspected in attempted carjackings was assaulted Thursday night in an attack caught on security cameras, according to Garden Grove police.

Officials responded to a fight at 10:51 p.m. near an area off Brookhurst Street and Central Avenue. There, they found the victim suffering non-life threatening injuries and transported the victim to a hospital.

The 45-year-old father remains hospitalized as of Friday night and recieved stiches in his head due to his injuries.

The victim apparently saw three men tampering with his car and chased after them when they ran from the scene. The men then turned and began to beat him, using a metal pipe.

"I saw a gentleman laying on the ground," Tammy Scha-Sing, a witness, said. "I pulled in to help him and he couldn't get up."

No arrests were reported early Friday afternoon.

No vehicle was seen at the time of the assault. The attackers are believed to be between 18 to 25-years-old and were all wearing plaid jackets with hoods.

A more detailed description was not immediately available.
