Firefighters Saturday put out a third-alarm fire at a three-story home in Torrance.
A resident at the home, a man in his mid-70s, was rushed to an area hospital for a "cardiac-related" injury. He was listed in stable condition, Torrance Fire Department Assistant Chief Steve Treskes said.
No other people were inside the residence, Treskes said.
Firefighters dispatched at 10:27 a.m. to the three-story terrace/hillside home in the 4500 block of Via Corona reported fire showing from each level.
"Crews initially went on offensive fire attack and quickly had to change to a defensive mode based upon the extent of the fire and access issues," he said.
Firefighters had the blaze under control a 11:45 a.m., Treskes said. No other injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
