A 57-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting his ex-wife in Bellflower on Christmas Day and turning the gun on himself has been arrested on suspicion of murder, the sheriff's department reported Tuesday.
Deputies responded about 3:15 p.m. Monday to a report of a gunshot victim in the 9100 block of Rosecrans Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
They found the woman, identified by the coroner's office as 41-year-old Gabriela Romero Garcia, suffering from at least one gunshot wound to her upper body, officials said.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, which the coroner's office described as a trailer.
They also found a man, now identified as Santiago Palacios-Salgado, also suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper body, according to the sheriff's department.
Palacios-Salgado, the victim's ex-husband, was taken to a hospital, where he remained in fair condition undergoing treatment for self-inflicted gunshot-related injuries. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder, according to Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.
The couple had two children -- a 6-year-old son and an 8-year-old daughter who were at the shooting scene but not injured.
