Attacker Stabs Man Waiting to Pick Up Brother at LAX

The victim, who suffered multiple stab wounds, was taken to a local hospital in a stable condition

A man waiting in a vehicle to pick up his brother at the airport was stabbed in what investigators described as a random attack. Toni Guinyard reports for the NBC4 News at Noon on Friday May 1, 2015.

A man waiting to pick up a family member at Los Angeles International Airport was slashed on the face and bitten on the shoulder by an attacker early Friday, according to authorities.

The victim was waiting to pick up his brother, who works at the airport, when he was assaulted by a man with a knife between Terminal 3 and the Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX at around 12:30 a.m, a Los Angeles Airport Police spokeswoman said.

Authorities said the attacker appeared to be delusional because he thought the victim was President Barack Obama's son. Los Angeles Airport Police would not confirm that information.

The victim, who was slashed on the neck and head several times, was taken to Ronald Reagan Medical Center in stable condition.

"It's pretty horrific and tragic," said traveler Jono Price. "There are loads of police around and everything, but I don't know. Welcome to America, I guess."

The attacker, a Hollywood resident, was allegedly found in possession of a knife across from Terminal 2 and has been booked for attempted murder. He did not have a ticket, and had no reason to be at the airport, according to police.
