A manhunt is underway after authorities identified the 57-year-old man suspect of shooting and killing a woman as she left work in the City of Industry.
Martin Jesus Godinez of La Puente was seen leaving the area of the shooting, which was reported at 10:23 p.m. on Sept. 4 in the 17600 block of Castleton Street, in a gold 2003 Chrysler Town and Country minivan with the California license plate number 5CKF285, according to the Sheriff's Information Bureau.
Katy Nosic, 27, also of La Puente was shot while in the rear parking lot of a Golden Corral restaurant where she had started working three weeks earlier as a baker trainee, according to news reports. She died at the scene. Sheriff's Homicide Bureau Lt. Joe Mendoza said the killing may have been related to a domestic dispute.
Nosic was supposedly in a relationship with Godinez's ex-wife.
Mendoza said Nosic was walking to a car when a minivan arrived. A gunman -- suspected to be Godinez -- got out, shot the woman repeatedly before getting back into the vehicle and driving off, according to Mendoza.
Nosic's father told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune that his daughter, the youngest of four children and the only girl, had been born and was raised in Canton, Ohio and moved to California three years ago looking for a job.
"She wanted to work with children," the victim's brother, Robert Nosic, said. "She either wanted to be a social worker or child psychologist."
