Police arrested one man in the killing of another in Montebello, and were still looking for a second murder suspect Sunday.
Martin Bautista, 33, of Pico Rivera was jailed at 9 p.m. Friday on suspicion of murder, according to Montebello police. Bautista was being held in lieu of $1 million in bail, according to jail records.
Police were still searching for his suspected accomplice, 28-year-old Eric Daniel Deleon, also of Pico Rivera. He was described a Hispanic, about 5 feet-6 inches tall and weighing about 165 pounds. Deleon has black hair and brown eyes and was believed to be being hidden by friends to avoid capture.
The homicide took place last Wednesday about 12:15 p.m. in a parking lot at 308. S. Vail Ave. in Montebello, according to police.
Witnesses told police they saw two men running from the parking lot, where a man in his 50s was found dead following some sort of fight. The suspects were seen heading east on Olympic Boulevard, according to police.
Investigators do not why the two men got into an altercation with the victim, whose cause of death has not been determined. Police publicly circulated sketches of the two suspects.
