Astronomers Discover Oldest Known Planet Capable of Supporting Life

The oldest known planet capable of harboring life has been discovered by astronomers, according to Space.com. The exoplanet, Kapteyn b, is pretty old — about 11.5 billion years, compared to Earth's age of 4.5 billion years — leading scientists to wonder what kind of life could have evolved on it over such a long period of time. And at a distance of 13 light-years away, the planet, which orbits a nearby red dwarf known as Kapteyn's Star, is close to Earth, in galactic terms at least.
