Authorities near Coalinga arrested an Alameda County deputy in connection with a double-fatal shooting in Dublin early Wednesday morning, according to police and sheriff's officials.
At about 12:45 a.m., Dublin police responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting in the 3100 block of Colebrook Lane. Officers found a man and a woman inside a home suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The victims were identified Thursday as 42-year-old Maria Tran and 57-year-old Benison Tran, according to the Alameda County Coroner's Office.
Witnesses at the scene identified the shooter as 24-year-old Devin Williams Jr., a deputy with the Alameda County Sheriff's Office, police said. He was not on duty at the time of the shooting.

A neighbor who wishes to remain anonymous told NBC Bay Area she saw Williams speed away from the area right after the shootings.
"When a car is down there and its pitch dark, when their light beams go on, it just travels straight through my room," she said. "I saw the car turn on and it sped down the lane and took a sharp turn there."

Williams called Dublin authorities later Wednesday and told them he wanted to surrender. He was taken into custody by CHP officers near Coalinga.
The Alameda County Sheriff's Office said Williams had been working at the Oakland courthouse for a year and officials said he had an "exemplary record."
"Everything that has been reported to us would indicate that he was a very good candidate for law enforcement that somewhere in the last several months of his life, some significant events happened that led up to this moment," explained Sheriff's Office spokesperson Lt. Ray Kelly.
Williams, who has a known residence in Stockton, knew the victims, a married couple who had an adolescent child, Kelly said. He said the child likely was inside the home when the shooting occurred.
"I think we heard from a person that was very disturbed and in an emotional crisis and when you have talked to somebody and have had to deal with that, you are trying to get to them minute to minute to keep them alive," Kelly said about the moment Williams turned himself in.
According to sources with knowledge of the investigation, the suspect and female victim were involved in a romantic relationship for several months.
Residents of the area are worried about the series of events that unfolded, not only because of the crime but because who allegedly is responsible.
"How can we know we are secure especially when a police officer committed a crime that, you know, who is suppose to protect us and has committed a crime," said resident Suresh Sandasini. "That is the biggest concern for us."
