Santorum “In It to Win It” for 2012

Former two-term senator Rick Santorum officially announced his bid for president on the GOP ticket on Monday. "We're in it to win it," he said on ABC's "Good Morning America" from Somerset, Pennsylvania, the state he represented in the Senate. While he doesn't have as much name recognition as Newt Gingrich or Sarah Palin, Santorum is a favorite among anti-abortion activists. Still, gaining popularity among Republican voters is going to be a struggle; in the GMA interview, George Stephanopoulos pointed out he lost badly in his 2006 Senate re-election bid and still lags in the polls. Santorum joins Tim Pawlenty, Mitt Romney, Gingrich, Gary Johnson and Ron Paul in the race for the Republican nomination.
