2020 was a disappointing year for college graduates who didn't get a ceremony because of the coronavirus pandemic. But it looks like that will change for San Diego State University graduates in 2021.
SDSU said an in-person commencement for 2021 graduates will be held at Petco Park next month to celebrate the students' achievement.
"After close consultation with county public health officials and in adherence with county and state guidelines, SDSU is moving forward with hosting our May 2021 Commencement at Petco Park," the university announced in an email to graduates.

- Tuesday, May 25, 2021:
- 9:00 a.m. – College of Education
- 2:00 p.m. – College of Sciences
- Wednesday, May 26, 2021:
- 8:00 a.m. – College of Arts and Letters
- 1:00 p.m. – College of Engineering
- 5:30 p.m. – Fowler College of Business
- Thursday, May 27, 2021:
- 9:00 a.m. – College of Health and Human Services
- 2:00 p.m. – College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts
The university added that a livestream of the ceremonies will be made available online. A virtual ceremony will also be held for students and families who may not be able to attend the in-person commencement.
Each graduate will get a limited number of guests to adhere to social distancing guidelines, according to SDSU. Those in attendance of the graduation will be required to wear facial coverings and social distance. The university said it will release more details on how many guests will be allowed per graduate at a later date.

In March, the university announced it was exploring ways to celebrate the graduates, including hosting a drive-thru commencement celebration called, “CARmencement.”
