General Motors is prepared to pay out at least $1 million to family members of those who died in crashes resulting from their cars' faulty ignition switches. Kenneth Feinberg, the fund's administrator, said in a press conference Monday that GM has placed no limit on the total amount he can pay out to injured people or relatives of those killed. Claims can be filed starting on Aug. 1 to Dec. 31 and only those injured in crashes caused by the faulty small-car ignition switches are eligible. People filing claims will have to prove that the switches caused the crashes.
