NB 101 Freeway Shut Down Near Highland Avenue After Fatal Crash

One person described as male was killed Saturday in a three-vehicle crash on the 101 Freeway in Hollywood Hills, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 8:30 p.m. on the northbound 101 Freeway near Highland Avenue in the Cahuenga Pass, California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball said.

"The reporting party witnessed a male fly through the air," Kimball said.

The male was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

There was no further description of the deceased and no mention of other injuries, Kimball said.

A SigAlert was issued at 8:42 p.m. with northbound lanes closed and traffic diverted off at Highland Avenue, he said.
