Police briefly pursued a suspect from Huntington Beach, into Costa Mesa Friday afternoon.
The chase was reported about 12:45 p.m., and was initiated by Huntington Beach Police Department.
Police backed off of the ground pursuit as the driver maneuvered busy streets at a relatively high rate of speed.
The silver sedan continued to drive at a high rate of speed before slowing to about 65 mph on the freeway heading into San Juan Capistrano around 1:15 p.m. in an effort to evade police.
The person was wanted on for a misdemeanor probation violation stemming from a vehicle code incident, police said.
Officials said they knew the identity of the driver and would locate him at a later date.
