It wasn’t that long ago that the LA City Council and Mayor Eric Garcetti said it was time to cut the police budget by $150 million, as some council members condemned the practices of the LAPD as racist. But then crime started climbing. Now the police commission is seeking a 12% increase in the police budget, and wants to hire more officers.
