Three Vehicles Burn in South LA, Officials Search for Possible Arsonist

Officials are searching for a possible arsonist who may be responsible for the fires of three vehicles on Friday in South Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to three car fires at approximately 12:45 a.m. on 62nd Street and San Pedro Street, 111th Street and San Pedro Street and 85th Street and Towne Avenue. The fires are all believed to have happened within a 20-minute span.

LAFD officials alerted the 77th Division and Southeast Division.

The first fire was created with trash and extended to a minivan, the second occurred in a driveway and the third was on the street.

Authorities have not confirmed if the fires are linked, but they are investigating the cause of the flames and are looking for a person who may be responsible.

As of 4 a.m., the flames have been contatined.

No injuries were reported and a description of a possible arsonist was not immediately available.
