A suspect has been taken into custody for allegedly stealing a Riverside County Sheriff's Department cruiser.
The car was stolen about 2:40 a.m. Saturday from the Inland Valley Medical Center while the deputy assigned to it was getting medical treatment for an arrestee. The deputy had left the car locked in the parking lot.
Deputies located the vehicle and after a short chase, took the suspect, Alvin Smith, into custody.
No one was injured during the incident.
