A red flag warning for parts of Southern California has been issued by the National Weather Service as above-normal temperatures and dry conditions continue across the region.
The warning is in effect through 8 p.m. Friday for the Los Angeles and Ventura County mountains, as well as the Santa Clarita, Ventura, and Santa Ynez valleys.

The strongest winds are expected Friday morning.
A red flag warning means that there are currently critical fire weather conditions, and if not, there will be soon. The combination of gusty winds and low relative humidity create conditions for extreme fire behavior, according to the National Weather Service.
