This live blog about the World Series Game 4 has ended.
What to Know
Freddie Freeman hit a home run once again to open a 2-0 Dodgers lead after the top of the first inning.
Anthony Volpe woke up the Yankees with a grand slam in the bottom of the third to make it 5-2, but the Dodgers cut into the lead to make it 5-4 after the top of the fifth.
Gleyber Torres responded, drilling a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to extend New York's lead to 10-4 before Aaron Judge recorded his first RBI.
No team has ever come back from a 3-0 series deficit in the World Series, but the Yankees are still alive.
Luis Gil started Game 4 for the Yankees, while the Dodgers went with a bullpen game.
The Los Angeles Dodgers failed to break out the brooms in the Bronx on Tuesday.
The team held a commanding 3-0 series lead in their World Series showdown against the New York Yankees after a 4-2 win in Monday's Game 3. However, New York avoided a sweep with a strong 11-4 win.
An Anthony Volpe grand slam was the momentum swinger the Yankees sorely needed after Freddie Freeman opened the top of the first with yet another home run.
Gleyber Torres later hit a three-run homer to keep the offensive groove flowing, with Aaron Judge also later recording his first RBI of the series.
Los Angeles still leads the series 3-1 with Game 5 on Wednesday. Here's a look back at how Game 4 played out, along with some postgame comments from both clubs:

How Anthony Volpe made World Series history in Game 4
By Sanjesh Singh
Anthony Volpe was an offensive force in Game 4.
The 23-year-old hit a third-inning grand slam that changed the tide in the Yankees' win, and he added a second hit later on.
With four-plus RBIs and two stolen bases, Volpe made history as the first player to record such a stat line in a World Series game.
Yankees' Austin Wells on mentality after not playing in Game 3
By Sanjesh Singh
Catcher Austin Wells returned to the starting lineup after Jose Trevino replaced him in Game 3's loss Monday.
Wells played his part in the Game 4 win, hitting a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth to extend New York's lead to 6-4 following postseason hitting woes.
After the game, he detailed his mindset, saying, "I just said screw it" about his approach at the plate.
"I just said screw it. We were down three and I just went out there and said screw it."
Tim Mayza closed out the Dodgers in the top of the ninth, retiring the batters in order.
Will Smith lined out to center to start, then Chris Taylor entered for Gavin Lux and grounded out to second. Kike Hernandez grounded out to shortstop to end the inning with the Yankees sealing the 11-4 win to force a Game 5 Wednesday.

By Mike Gavin
The New York bats have awoken.
Gleyber Torres crushed the Yankees' third home run of the night, a three-run shot in the eighth inning that increased their lead to 10-4. It's the Yankees' most runs in a World Series game since 1978.
And the blow out is on!
Yankees take a 10-4 lead after this shot from Gleyber!
Prior to that, Anthony Volpe's busy night on the basepaths continued.
The Yankees shortstop helped tack on an insurance run by stretching a single into a double, stealing third and beating the throw home on a fielder's choice attempt at the plate for a 7-4 lead.

What's the record for home runs in a single World Series? Where Freddie Freeman ranks
By Eric Mullin
Here’s a timeline of Freddie Freeman’s historic World Series home run streak, dating back to the Braves’ 2021 championship run.
The eight-time All-Star, who homered in the final two games of the Atlanta Braves' 2021 World Series win over the Houston Astros, is the first player to go yard in six consecutive games in the Fall Classic overall.
Freeman made more World Series history, too, as the first player to ever hit a home run in each of the first four games of a single Fall Classic. George Springer in 2017 with the Astros was the only other time a player homered in any four consecutive games of single World Series, according to MLB.com's Sarah Langs.
Anthony Volpe hits go-ahead grand slam for Yankees
By Mike Gavin
Anthony Volpe's run around the bases was much easier this time.
The Yankees shortstop hit a two-out, go-ahead grand slam in the bottom of the third inning to give the Yankees a 5-2 lead, getting redemption for his earlier baserunning blunder.
The Dodgers' first pitching change of their bullpen game didn't work out too well. Daniel Hudson took over at the start of the inning and, after striking out Juan Soto, hit Aaron Judge on the wrist to put the tying run on. Jazz Chisholm Jr. followed with a single to put runners at the corners. Giancarlo Stanton then walked to load the bases.

The Dodgers are using a bullpen game for the fourth time of the 2024 postseason, having gone 2-1 so far in the relief-pitcher committee approach.

Anthony Volpe overcomes baserunning blunder to score Yankees' first run
By Mike Gavin
The Yankees are on the board, but the run didn't exactly come easily.
Anthony Volpe, who walked and stole second base, made a baserunning blunder that could have proved costly. He failed to score from second on a double off the wall by Austin Wells after misreading the ball.

Yankees leave two runners in scoring position in first
By Mike Gavin
The Yankees' struggles with runners in scoring position has continued early in Game 4.
Ben Casparius -- the opener in the Dodgers' bullpen game for what is his first major league "start" -- issued one-out walks to Juan Soto and Aaron Judge to put the tying runs on base in the first inning. He escaped the jam by getting Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Giancarlo Stanton to ground out.
The Yankees, just as they did in Game 3, trailed 2-0 after the first inning.

Yankees fan rips ball out of Mookie Betts' glove on foul pop
By Mike Gavin
The Yankees need all the help they can get, and one fan tried really, really hard to do his part.
After Gleyber Torres hit a fly ball into foul territory down the right field line, Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts made a leaping catch against the wall. A fan seated in the front row then grabbed Betts' glove, pried it open and caused the ball to fall out.
"Well, A for effort."

Umpires ruled it an out due to fan interference. Nice effort, but the fan will not be remembered as the next Jeffrey Maier.
