College football's final four is set -- and it doesn't include a single top-four seed.
The quarterfinals of the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff saw each of the top four seeds get bounced following their first-round byes.
The No. 6-seeded Penn State Nittany Lions kicked things off New Year's Eve with a 31-14 win over the No. 3-seeded Boise State Broncos in the Fiesta Bowl. Then, on New Year's Day, the No. 5-seeded Texas Longhorns outlasted the No. 4-seeded Arizona State Sun Devils 39-31 in a double-overtime Peach Bowl thriller before the No. 8-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes ended the No. 1-seeded Oregon Ducks' perfect season with a 41-21 Rose Bowl rout.
To close out the round, the No. 7-seeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish topped the No. 2-seeded Georgia Bulldogs 23-10 in the postponed Sugar Bowl on Thursday.

The final four teams -- Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State and Texas -- will compete in a semifinal round featuring the Cotton and Orange Bowls, with trips to the national championship game up for grabs.
