NFL Schedule for Thursday Night Football in the 2022 Season

Thirty different teams played on Amazon's Thursday Night Football this season

NBC Universal, Inc. It’s the end of the road for some teams but some were able to squeeze their way into the playoffs ahead of the final week of play.

It’s a new era of Thursday Night Football.

After years of jumping around different networks, TNF found a new permanent home in 2022: Amazon Prime Video. For the first time, a streaming service had a season-long exclusive broadcasting deal with the NFL.

Fifteen TNF games throughout the 2022 season were streamed on Amazon, with the only exceptions being Week 1’s kickoff game and Week 12’s primetime Thanksgiving game. Legendary announcer Al Michaels (play-by-play) and Kirk Herbstreit (analysis) called the games all season long, beginning with a doozy that featured two star quarterbacks.

Here’s the full schedule for Amazon’s debut season of TNF:

Week 2, Sept 15: Chiefs 27, Chargers 24

In a duel that went to the final minute, it was Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs that came out victorious over Justin Herbert and the Chargers. The Chiefs scored 17 unanswered points after trailing 17-7 at one point. Kansas City took over and won 27-24.

Week 3, Sept. 22: Browns 29, Steelers 17

It was a typical AFC North rivalry game, with the Browns and Steelers trading punches all night long. With the Browns leading 23-17 on the final play of the game, the Steelers tried to use a lateral play to go down the field before fumbling in their own end zone to give Cleveland a 29-17 win.

Week 4, Sept. 29: Bengals 27, Dolphins 15

In a matchup between two up-and-coming AFC squads, the Bengals defeated the previously unbeaten Dolphins to improve to 2-2. The game was marred by Tua Tagovailoa’s scary head and neck injury that sent him off the field on a stretcher and to a local hospital.

Week 5, Oct. 6: Colts 12, Broncos 9

It wasn't pretty, but the Colts defeated the Broncos in overtime to improve to 2-2-1 on the young season, while Denver fell to 2-3. Matt Ryan and Russell Wilson have struggled so far with their new teams, and Week 5 was no different. They each had two interceptions in the game.

Week 6, Oct. 13: Commanders 12, Bears 7

Well, that happened. In a game that both sides struggled to control, it was the Commanders who narrowly edged the Bears as it came down to the final minute. Chicago had a chance to steal the game in the end, but Darnell Mooney couldn’t haul in Justin Fields’ pass on fourth-and-goal.

Week 7, Oct. 20: Cardinals 42, Saints 34

After some low-scoring Thursday night affairs, the Cardinals and Saints flipped the trend. Much of it had to do with Andy Dalton throwing two pick-sixes in a 1:14 span before the end of the first half, with Arizona tallying 25 points in the second quarter. Dalton led a late fourth-quarter charge, but the damage had already been done as the Cardinals moved to 3-4 while the Saints fell to 2-5.

Week 8, Oct. 27: Ravens 27, Buccaneers 22

Could Week 8 have been Tom Brady’s final TNF appearance? The seven-time Super Bowl winner fell to Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens at home in the Week 8 Thursday showdown. The loss dropped the Bucs to 3-5 and moved Brady two games below .500 for the first time as a starting NFL quarterback.

Week 9, Nov. 3: Eagles 29, Texans 17

The undefeated Eagles didn’t roll over the one-win Texans like many expected. The game was knotted at 14 at halftime, but Philly took over on both sides of the ball after the break to improve to 8-0. Houston, meanwhile, fell to 1-6-1 after the home loss.

Week 10, Nov. 10: Panthers 25, Falcons 15

The Panthers got revenge for a heartbreaking Week 8 overtime loss to the Falcons. Atlanta's defense had no answers for running back D'Onta Foreman, who rushed for 130 yards and one touchdown on 31 carries in Carolina's 25-15 win.

Week 11, Nov. 17: Titans 27, Packers 17

Tennessee picked up its seventh win in eight games by taking down the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. Ryan Tannehill threw for two touchdowns, while Derrick Henry rushed and threw for a score in the victory. The Packers, meanwhile, found themselves back in the loss column just days after snapping a five-game losing streak.

Week 13, Dec. 1: Bills 24, Patriots 10

The Bills cruised to an easy road win over the Patriots to kick off Week 13. Buffalo moved to 9-3, while New England dropped to 6-6. Defense was the story for the Bills, as they limited the Patriots to just 182 passing yards and 60 rushing yards. Josh Allen and Co. held the ball for over 38 minutes in this lopsided contest to win their third straight game.

Week 14, Dec. 8: Rams 17, Raiders 16

Week 14 delivered one of the more exciting Thursday Night Football matchups between two teams that underperformed throughout 2022.

The Rams stopped a six-game slide behind the heroics of ... Baker Mayfield. Mayfield, who only joined the defending Super Bowl champions just two days earlier, stepped in for backup John Wolford in the first quarter. It took him a bit to get into the rhythm of an entirely new offense, but with a minute and 45 seconds to go, Mayfield led the charge 98 yards to put the Rams up with 10 seconds remaining.

Week 15, Dec. 15: 49ers 21, Seahawks 13

In a game that didn't feel as close as the final score indicated, the 49ers officially clinched the NFC West with an eight-point win in Seattle. Brock Purdy, in just his second start, completed 17 of 26 passes for 217 yards, two touchdowns and no turnovers.

Week 16, Dec. 22: Jaguars 19, Jets 3

The top two picks from the 2021 draft had a chance to square off at the tail end of their sophomore seasons. Trevor Lawrence’s Jags visited East Rutherford, N.J., and got a road win against the Jets and Zach Wilson, who was benched during the contest.

Week 17, Dec. 29: Cowboys at Titans

The Cowboys kept their division title hopes alive with victory over the shorthanded Tennessee Titans. Dak Prescott threw two touchdown passes to Dalton Schultz in the win. The Titans (7-9), with quarterback Joshua Dobbs under center in his first career start, lost their sixth straight game. They can still win the AFC South if they defeat the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 18.
