An armed and dangerous man suspected of firing gunshots in a Norwalk neighborhood was being sought Monday after an eight-hour standoff overnight.

No injuries were reported.
Arriving deputies saw a vehicle and followed it to the 14500 block of Claressa Avenue, where the driver got out and ran onto a residential property that included a house and a garage, the sheriff's department reported. The man lived at the location.
A sheriff's SWAT team responded, along with deputies from the Norwalk, Industry, Pico Rivera, Lakewood and Compton stations.
Investigators recovered a loaded handgun from the vehicle, and the property was surrounded, authorities said. The man was described being in his 30s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and wearing a gray tank top and dark pants.
Crisis negotiators attempted to contact the man, and the SWAT team searched the property and determined about 8:50 a.m. that the man was gone.
