Thieves Target Lotto Tickets

Thieves broke into a Garden Grove liquor store and targeted its stash of lotto tickets. Vikki Vargas reports for the NBC4 News at 5&6 on May 16, 2016.

Two suspects used a van to rip off the doors of a liquor store early Monday morning to steal lottery tickets, Garden Grove police reported.

The suspects used a Chevrolet Astro van and a rope to force open the doors of Hanshaw Liquors at 10971 Westminster Ave. about 4:45 a.m., according to Garden Grove police Lt. Bob Bogue.

The burglars took several thousand California Scratchers tickets in the store, Bogue said.

Some of the winning tickets were claimed at 8 a.m. at convenience stores in Compton and Lynwood, Bogue said.

Anyone with information was asked to call police at (714) 741-5837 or send an email to dennisw@ggpd.org. Orange County Crime Stoppers accepts anonymous tips at (855) TIP-OCCS.
