Two Dead After House Fire Erupts Near Hesperia

Two other residents were able to evacuate safely before firefighters arrived

Two people were found dead after a fire broke out in a house near Hesperia Sunday.

The fire was reported near Cataba Street and Palm Avenue in the community of Oak Hills around 5 a.m., the San Bernardino County Fire Department said.

When fire officials arrived, two people had evacuated the home and informed firefighters that two of their family members, one of whom was bedridden, were still in the house.

Firefighters conducted a search and found two residents dead in the room where the fire originated.

The two dead were elderly, fire officials said.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control in about 20 minutes.

No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
