Authorities say eight people have been injured at a federal prison in Victorville but details remain sketchy.
The San Bernardino County Fire Department says there was a "mass casualty" incident at the Mojave Desert lockup northeast of Los Angeles on Monday night. As many as nine patients were examined and four of them were taken to hospitals for treatment of moderate injuries. The other injuries are minor.
NBC4 wasn't able to independently verify who was hurt, but Victor Valley News Group said six staff members and three inmates were injured.
The Federal Correctional Complex, Victorville houses about 1,300 inmates, including some in high security.
