A woman was fatally shot and another woman, described as an extended family member of the victim, was taken into custody Tuesday in Brea.
The shooting occurred in the 400 block of North Tangerine Place, the Brea Police Department announced on Twitter just before 6 p.m.
A possible motive for the killing has not been disclosed.
"They were attending a family gathering at the home on Tangerine," according to a police statement. "The suspect confronted the victim the driveway of the home, and shot her multiple times in the upper body with a handgun."
Neither woman was immediately identified.
The suspect was taken to Brea police headquarters for booking.
"It is expected that detectives and CSI will be processing the crime
scene through most of the night," police said.
