A woman was shot and killed Monday after she finished her shift at a City of Industry restaurant in the Puente Hills East Shopping Center.
As the victim left the restaurant in the 17600 block of Castleton Street and walked to her car, she was shot by a gunman from inside a car, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau Lt. Joe Mendoza. The woman suffered gunshot wounds to the upper body.
"However, we did note that there was a vehicle seen fleeing the area but we have no more details on that vehicle," Mendoz said.
A detailed description of the gunman was not immediately available and the motive remains unknown. Authorities are gathering surveillance footage from nearby businesses.
