The Olympics and Paralympics flags went on display Thursday at Los Angeles City Hall in a symbolic nod to the international athletics competitions coming to Southern California in 2028.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass received the Olympics flag at Paris Olympics Closing Ceremony from Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo in an historic exchange between two female mayors. The Paralympics flag was handed over at the Closing Ceremony earlier this month.
They will be on display at City Hall outside the mayor's office.

"In just a few years, we will host the world's greatest athletes," Bass said. "For them, after years and even decades of dedication, the 2028 Games are an opportunity to prove themselves on the world's greatest field of play. For Angelenos, the 2028 Games means an opportunity to bring urgency behind many important infrastructure projects -- a greener Los Angeles, a Los Angeles that is easier to get around, a Los Angeles where all residents are connected to one another."
Los Angeles will host the Olympics for a third time in 2028. The city will host the Paralympics for the first time.
Council President Paul Krekorian, LA28 Chair Casey Wasserman, Olympic and Paralympic athletes and community leaders joined Bass for Thursday's celebration.
Resident can view the flags, starting Friday.
