In “Historic Leap,” First Man-Made Object Leaves Solar System

NASA’s Voyager 1 spacecraft has become the first man-made object to leave our solar system. Scientists at JPL in La Canada Flintridge have been keeping a close eye on the project, since it first launched 36 years ago. Gordon Tokumatsu reports for NBC4 News at 5 p.m. on Sept. 12, 2013.
