Movie Recounts Athlete's Remarkable Recovery After Car Crash
The inspiring true life story of champion gymnast Ariana Berlin is now told in the NBC movie “Full Out”: At 14, elite athlete Berlin was in a horrible car crash and suffered injuries that threatened to crush her Olympic aspirations. Told she would never compete again, she joined a hip hop dance troupe, rebuilt her strength and walked on to UCLA’s gymnastics squad her freshman year. Berlin went on to become a four-time All-American and won an NCAA championship with her team. Portrayed by “Degrassi: The Next Generation” star Ana Golja stars in the new movie about Berlin’s inspiring story, “Full Out.” Both women visited the NBC4 studio Aug. 6, 2015 and talked with Carolyn Johnson about their experience filming the movie.
