California Live’s Jessica Vilchis spends the morning with volunteers at an East LA food pantry and posada event helping those in need. So far the campaign has raised more than $65,000 for families who need it most this time of year.

NBC4 and Telemundo 52 are getting ready for Friday’s Help for the Hungry event, taking place at the Eastmont Community Center in Los Angeles. 

A USC study tracking numbers from March 2020 to the present found that 1 in 3 LA County families are experiencing food insecurity. Among low income residents, food insecurity is the worst it’s been in 10 years.
