The U.S. Senate passed a new bipartisan bill reauthorizing the Department of Defense of sell excess aircraft and parts to firefighters helping fight U.S. wildfires.

The application window is open for $2.4 million in grants for Los Angeles restaurants affected by the deadly January wildfires. The California Restaurant Foundation LA Fire Recovery Grants will provide $10,000 grants to 242 independent restaurants. The direct-relief money will help cover essential business expenses and long-term recovery. Click here to apply. The application period will close April 26.

After tests found elevated levels of lead in soil near the Eaton Fire burn area, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved a motion on Tuesday to allocate $3 million to help affected property owners conduct more detailed testing.

Although the fields will soon be open, the lots around the field remain empty.
