Livermore Libations Shine at Taste Our Terroir

The food-delish, wine-lovely weekend spotlights the grape goodness of the Livermore Valley.

VINE-ING OUT: Adore a particular chardonnay from the Livermore Valley? It is easy to become attached to a label from a wine-good region, but branching out, or vine-ing out, rather, can be a little tricky, especially if you're hesitant about stepping away from the sip you found and adore. One of the easiest routes to vine-ing out into new-to-you vineyards and fresh-to-your-palate wines is to land in a region when it is holding one of its most event-laden get-to-know-us larks of the year. And such a lofty lark is on its way to the Livermore Valley, over the final weekend of 2018, and when we say "final weekend" we actually mean four long days, from July 26 through 29, 2018. It's called...

TASTE OUR TERROIR, and the Livermore Valley Winegrowers Association event is temptingly billed as "Livermore Valley's premier food and wine affair." That temptation comes to tasty fruition on Thursday, July 26 with the opening night of the event, an evening devoted to a gourmet food and wine pairing at Casa Real in Pleasanton. How many winemakers will be competing for top honors at the big night? Twenty, so count on an array of accoladed wines to be in the glasses lined up before you.

THERE'S MORE TO COME, lots more, through Sunday, July 29 around the LV. A Wente Lunch in the Garden is one of the four Friday events, a Concannon Vineyard's 135th Anniversary Landmark Tour is part of the Saturday roster, and Sunday'll spotlight A Little Taste of Italy, among other events. Honey tasting, more tours, more tastings, ways to dig into certain labels or wine types, and other haps dot the schedule. You want a ticket to one, two, a half dozen festivities?
